DOS in Win2000

Is dos going to be alive in Win2000? or at least support for shell scripting (batch files)?
I've heard not but I can't imagine how all the batch files in the world could just be abandoned.

Oh yeah...scripts run just fine. I don't have much occasion to run DOS programs but the command line is alive and well.
