I am faced witha delima as our PC Gurus want to upgrade our PCs from NT to Win 98. I would prefer to stay with NT4 for SQL Server reasons. Can anyone give me reasons to move to 98 over NT4. I need specific reasons as to why NT is preferable

Are you serious? Yea, quit your job because your "PC Guru" are really just hacks. Not only is such a migration a bad idea, but incomprehensible.

Why would you want to give up the security and stability of NT4? Windows 98 was built for the home and NT was built for business. Check out this web site. http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/News/August1998/NTfastestWin.asp?custarea=bus&site=ntw&openmenu=&highlighteditem=

Or just go to www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation and look at MANY reasons not to go with Windows 98 in your business.

I installed windows 98 on my machine for kicks when I first got a copy. Let`s just say it was a big waste of company time.
I ripped that bohemoth install off the hard drive within a week. Win98 is slower than NT for most apps that I was using.
Unless your company is full a avid gamers, stick to the NT which you already own (presumably) instead of wasting money
going to Win98. And if windows NT is too much of a burder on your resources, hence the need to change OS, install good
old 95 osr2. 98 is definitely a product for home PC users with big hard drives and big CPU`s. Not to mention that NT offers
far more stabliity than 95 or 98.
