Hello All!
Here is the problem guys.
All our PDC's, BDC's, and DHCP servers are at our main locations.
We have two other locations in the town which are on owr WAN.
There are some users who are on DHCP and will be roaming from location to location from time to time.
Their machines are configure for DHCP.
They work great when they are at our main loction, but some one manually has to walk them through on how to change their IP address tpo that
subnet and so on.
How do I make them have the DHCP assign them the ip addresses regardless of their location.
Thanks in Advance fpor all your help

Hi I had a simular problem, there are a couple of things you can do. You can make your lease periods shorter so when they go th the DHCP server they won't have the ip address already configured. (The client computer won't go looking for a new address until 50% of the lease time is up)but this will result in all your users having short leases. Or alternatively you can write a batchfile (or make it part of that users Login script) to do an ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. If you decide to go with the batchfile route, you can install the batchfile as a service to run in the background (using the resource kit - svrany.exe )so when you laptop starts up it does the ipconfig before you even log on, so when you do you won't get any "Domain controller not found" type of errors.
