Has anyone been brave enough to apply Sp3 to Exchange? I'm currently running SP2 on top of NT 4.0 with SP5 and I don't have too many problems. Thus I'm a bit hesitant to break anything.

Girish Budibetta 11-05-1999, 09:52 AM We have applied SP3 to 3 of our Exchange servers. We used to have several problems with Notes Connector earlier, and they have been fixed by SP3. Haven't seen a single problem after applying SP3 until now. ------------ cjackson at 11/4/99 5:08:50 PM Has anyone been brave enough to apply Sp3 to Exchange? Jonathan Craig 11-07-1999, 11:52 PM I did over this past weekend, and have encountered a problem with the Microsoft Exchange Event Service on one of our Exchange Servers. We were running Exchange 5.5, SP2, NT 4 SP4 without any problems, until now. I shut down as many of the Services in the Control panel as was reasonable, and and began the update. The thing which bothers me, is that I initiated the update on a "secondary Exchange" server, responsible for sending/receiving Internet mail, and thereafter updated our primary server (trying to be careful). On the secondary server, I am now receiving "ExchangeES" error #5, something like this "0x80004005, + 0x8004011d" where the Event Service will not start if the Private Information Store setting for Public folders is set to another Exchange server. The problem is this is not the case on either Exchange Server, and starting the Event Service on the secondary Exchange server is impossible. Public Folders are living on the primary Exchange server, and after having installed the Event Service from CD, it starts with the Mail service account, but finds no registered Public Folders. At present, from an email client (Exchange 5.0 /Outlook 98), I cannot delete any of my personal folders in my mailbox. The process hangs, although I can see the RAID acitivity light humming whenever I start this process. I have to kill the thread eventually. I can delete single messages, but nothing when I group-select. We are receiving email (Internet), but sending out seems to be failing. We have a small C drive and WILL start un-installing software now as there is only 149MB free (no pagefile on C are residing on D and E drives). The problem is more than likely this. SAMS MSCE Exchange Server 5.5 in 14 days states this could be the cause of services not starting. Be careful with this update of SP3 and watch those Admin alerts regarding hard drive space problems. It doesn't matter if it is a email (in any folder) or more than one folder at a time. I have been searching TechNet with no avail, and all of the news groups to try to resolve this issue. I am thinking of going back to SP2. Someone told me that this was an earlier issue which was corrected with SP2, but I haven't been able to support that claim yet. ------------ Robbie at 11/10/99 7:38:39 AM I'm in a 240 Exch svr global org with 140,00 users.
