Hi

Please help me out, I have a client with a problem on
exchange server 5.0.....
he doesent have any backup strategy...his exchange crashes ,
so he install a new exchange server on a different pc
and takes the *.edb file from the crashed server...
the new excahnge server comes up...but the old data is not available.

does any one have a solution to get back the data

I haven't used 5.0 for a while, (using 5.5) put this should apply


1) As far as a backup strategy goes.. Stop the exchange services and copy the entire exchsrvrmdbdata and exchsrvrdsadata to somewhere else. This is an offlne backup. Very innefficient, but if its all you have right now its ok. Also, the current data is located in *.log files. Those have to be moved over with the EDB's.

2) Look up restoring exchange to a different server in the microsoft support knowledge base. Lots of good info there.
