I am trying to get our helpdesk staff ready to go with a custom made MMC. I have installed the Admin Console off of the SMS SP2 CD, all seemed fine there. I copied our custom MMC to the desktop and I recieve the following error when I try to open it.
Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name: Systems Management Server
CLSID: (3AD39FC-EFD6-11D0-BDCF-00A0C909FDD7)
I have also tried to open the defualt MMC, sms.msc, from C:SMSADMINini386sms.msc and I get the same error as well. I have also started MMC via Start->Run and when I try to open sms.msc, explore.msc, or our custom I get the same error. NOTE: when I try to add/remove snap-in from MMC, I scroll down to the Systems Management Server and the icon is a file folder not the usual icon associated with SMS, also there is no vendor listed.
The system is running Windows 2000 SP1 and I have installed to numerous other clients using the same disc and have had no problems.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the admin console, I have tried to unregister and re-register the DLL mentioned in the registry "c:smsadminini386sms_root.dll".
It almost seems as if the install does not fully complete, but is says that is is successful.
I am at a loss and have exhausted my options, so I ask you...the SMS guru's for some assistance!!!
Thank you in advance!
