Exchange server development copy

Hello, I am a newbie to this area, and I was wondering how/if it is possible to get my hands on a development copy of Exchange Server. I am attempting to develop a web site that utilizes SQL Mail to email results of a query to the site administrator of my site. I found out that I need a mail server runing on the same box as the SQL server. I do not have the money to just go ahead and buy a mail server for development. I just need simple MAPI email services so that I can test the functionality and how it will work. Does anyone out there know where I can get a development copy of email server software? I'm sorry if I am posting in the wrong group, but I've been looking around for a while now and I can not get any answers anywhere. Maybe I am just looking in the wrong places?
